How to Keep Your Dinnerware Safe In Storage

You'll have to put dinnerware in storage whether you're relocating to a new home or apartment or are simply swapping it out for a seasonal set. Keeping these fragile materials protected in storage is essential. The type of cushioning that you choose to put in the boxes to separate the plates, bowls and cups can make all the difference. Try any of these packing supplies for safe storage:

Clothing

If you have clothing, pillows, blankets or other linens that won't fit into suitcases during a move, you can use them as filler in boxes to protect fragile items. This not only saves you money on packing materials, it gives you a convenient place to store your clothing and linens.

Bubble Wrap

This traditional packing material is great for separating dinnerware. Use large Bubble Wrap for heavier items that are prone to damage.

Tissue Paper

While this shouldn't be your sole packing material, it's ideal for wrapping plates, cups and bowls to prevent them from getting scratched during a move. If you're out of tissue paper, coffee filters are the perfect replacement.

Packing Peanuts

Store all of your fragile dinnerware in boxes filled with packing peanuts. They work well in absorbing impact. This material can be recycled and used again and again because it doesn't wear out over time.
